Jim Murphy believes history is alive with drama and adventure, startling and revealing situations, and a host of fascinating (and often surprisingly eloquent) heroes and villains. His books have been praised for their literary qualities and ability to connect with young readers and have been recognized with numerous awards, including two Newbery Honor Books, a Sibert Award, three NCTE Orbis Pictus awards, a Boston Globe/Horn Book Award, and one has been nominated for a National Book Award.
